The Wilmington Chicken

A little wit, humor, and a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure.

Commentary about baseball from the chicken.

K-K-K-K-K-K-K KENDRICK. HOWARD LAUNCHES TWO TO EXTEND NL EAST LEAD.

The Phillies have won 70 games with 53 games to play. Since they acquired Hunter Pence on Friday, the Phillies are 4-0. Since the Giants acquired Carlos Beltran on Thursday, they are 0-5. The baseball gods are cheering the Phillies on.

The Braves are spinning their wheels, losing their last three games and losing six of their last 10 games. The Phillies now have a nine game lead in the NL East.

The offense has come together over the past month and the addition of Pence, Polanco and Victorino has helped. Ibanez had a great month of July.

But, it still about the pitching…and Kyle Kendrick did his job last night throwing eight strong innings and striking out seven. Both career highs.

The Phillies win another series and go for back-to-back sweeps this afternoon. This series is followed by four games in San Francisco. Should be a great weekend series as Roy Oswalt returns to the rotation on Saturday. The Giants will see Lee, Worley, Oswalt and Hamels.

Lets make a statement.
