DIAMONDBACKS BURN PHILS, HALLADAY.
Tough way to lose a ballgame. The ace is in total control with a 2-1 lead going into the top of the ninth. Two pitches cost him and the Phillies the win.
The offense, with the exception of Shane Victorino’s two-run homer, was inconsistent. The Phillies scattered nine hits and struck out 11 times. Not good.
Bastardo and Madson were waiting for a call to the bullpen that never came. It was Halladay’s game to win…or in this case, lose.
The series continues tonight. Lee on the mound.
